The Mc Donald brothers

In the 1940s, the Mc Donald bros were not happy /not pleased / unhappy / displeased / dissatisfied / disappointed with the running of their restaurant, which wasn't profitable / money-making.

They didn't earn / make enough money. They had had enough of low profits.

They wanted to increase their turn-over.

Three month later, they changed their methods to prepare food and in 1948 they fired / dismissed the waiters and waitresses.
All the carhops were made redundant / were given the sack / were sacked

They applied the assembly lines system which consists in giving an employee one task to carry out. You don't need to hire carhops anylonger with such a system.

They reduced the choice on the menu.

They changed the dishes for paper plates. They replaced the dishes by paper plates

With the self-service system, customers didn't have to wait to be waited on / attended.

The Mc Donald brothers were inspired by standardization, devised by Taylor, and implemented by Ford in order to / so as to minimize the preparation time, to be more efficient.
